Here’s a step-by-step guide to what the process looks like for provider organizations:
Step 1: Discovery
First, schedule a call to speak with a member of our solutions team. On the discovery call, you'll learn more about how Charta works with provider groups and whether it’s the right solution for your practice.
Our team will ask questions about your current review process, chart volume, and the revenue cycle and compliance challenges you’re facing.
If there’s a fit for your practice, we’ll move to signing a BAA and MNDA and set up a second call with AI chart review specialists on our team.
Step 2: Scoping
You’ll meet with a Charta implementations specialist to show us how your team has configured your EHR.
A billing specialist from your practice will also guide us through your current workflows coding and billing.
During this call, we’ll also discuss your process for reviewing charts on other teams at the practice, including chart review for payer compliance, provider performance, and clinical quality measures.
Step 3: Contracting
After validating a fit with your team, we’ll work with you to develop an initial scope of work for implementation, including a timeline to completion.
Step 4: EHR integration
After contracting, our team will build a custom integration that adapts to the ways you’ve configured and use your specific instance of your EHR.
Step 5: Analysis & workflow implementation
Upon successful integration with your EHR, our team will develop a custom AI chart review engine for your practice.
Charta configures chart review using two components: analyses and audit modules.
Think of analyses as each individual type of verification you have your team perform. These can be simple, such as checking for a timely provider signature. They can also be complex, like evaluating whether a procedure is medically necessary given a patient’s age and documented family history.
Analyses are organized into audit modules, which are sets of analyses that you want to run simultaneously on a certain type of note. You can choose from our library of analyses built for similar practices, or work with your AI engineer to design additional analyses.
The number and complexity of your analyses will largely determine how long this step takes to complete, typically between two and eight weeks.
Step 6: Feedback and assessment
After our team is finished building and training your custom-designed AI chart review model, we’ll test it with a batch of sample charts and give you the opportunity to review the results.
We’ll then gather feedback from stakeholders across your team to determine what adjustments or additional training need to be incorporated to your model, if any, before we take it live.
Step 7: Live implementation
After confirming that Charta is performing to your expectations, we’ll align on a date to shift from the testing environment to a fully live implementation of AI chart review across your entire patient encounter population.
